Ethiopia - Nekisse

Getting a truly exceptional coffee from Ethiopia is difficult in recent years due to restructuring by the Ethiopian Commodities Exchange. Ninety Plus Coffee has been successful in their efforts to keep seperate and help cultivate some truly exceptional micro lots; the Nekisse is their most recent effort in Ethiopia. Ninety Plus Coffee is present every step of the process, from the growing, to the harvest, the processing and finally export. Their work helps educate producers, and give unwavering attention to the coffee. Nekisse is a small southern seed type from high altitudes that Ninety Plus Coffee has identified to be distinct in the denseness of the fruit and citrus characteristics. Although the Nekisse is not certified organic, like many other coffees it is produced without harmful chemicals. Some of the most respected roasters in the world have been able to source and roast this coffee–and we are excited to be among those who get that chance.

Cupping Notes: This coffee is bright and floral, with a very sparkly body and candy-like characteristics. The fruit that is present is not overbearing, but refined and crisp. This is a very complex and clean cup, demonstrating how attention to detail during processing results in excellence.
